Healthy Relationships

Frequently asked questions:

  • How do you know when to trust your partner?

  • What can I do when the lines of communication is down?

  • How can I tell my partner that I feel smothered?

  • What are some of the signs that indicate someone likes me?

  • Do guys and girls think the same way when it comes to relationships?

Being in a relationship may not be an easy thing. When dating someone you have to know what may fly with your partner and what won't. Having an open and honest dialogue with your partner may be the best way to overcome misunderstanding or questions. It should always be know that both you and your partner can at any time discuss what is troubling you. Communication is the key to true happiness. You must keep the lines of communication open at all times. Healthy relationships can be obtained easier than it is thought to be.

Another important aspect of a healthy relationship is trust. Although you can not put one hundred percent trust in a person 99% is where trust you should lie. Trust must be the walls that support the relationship. A absence of trust can hurt the relationship. The best way to communicate your feelings is through talking, although they say actions speak louder than words. Your actions can determine the outcome of what could have been a little spat. A spat can become elevated if one partner does not keep their anger under control. Screaming, yelling, or even physical violence can bring about a much more escalated problem. Always remember to keep a cool head, as well as make sure that you do not end up eating your words.

Time spent with your partner is wonderful. I encourage you and your partner to spend time with each other but do not over do it. When interviewing Lovely, she brought up an interesting point that too much time spent together can damage your relationship. Being in a long term relationship, Lovely gives sound advice as how to prosper when on a relationship. If you feel like you can not talk to your partner without the fear of losing them, then something is terribly wrong. Do not feel the fear of losing your partner. If you do feel that fear then you need to recess your relationship. Attempting to correct wrongs should be a duel effort. If you find yourself always the one to initiate the first step in working things out you have allowed your partner to sit back and watch you fight for the relationship.

Problems in the relationship: If you are having problems in your relationship where talking about it does not help, well you have to recess your relationship. Being alone can be hard for some people. You know the saying Loves to be in love". There are many reasons as to why they have the need to be involved (1). Peer pressure, you are the only one in the group that does not have a partner; you feel so left out so you date anyone that comes your way; if this is your case then you are the victim of peer pressure. (2). They may also feel that they have no one who will ever find them desirable. What ever the situation may be do not rush into a relationship is you are not ready for one.

Falling in love: The three little words I love you has no small meaning. You must be careful with these words, a lot of power exist in them. When you decide to tell someone that you love them it should come from the heart in all honesty. Do not say that you love a person if you are unsure that it is love. Being I love is a wonderful feeling. You have those butterflies in your stomach and each time that you hear his or her name called you have a smile that could put the sun out of business. I too get butterflies. It happens when you least expect it. Although you may say that you are deeply in love; you can fall out of it. If you were to fall out of love make sure that you explain what led to your change of heart. Nothing beats leaving your partner completely flustered or confused. Confusion could potentially lead to other thoughts and feelings. Among those thoughts and feelings suicide, murder, extreme depression, and obsession may arrive. If at any time you find yourself being victimized by these feelings please consult with an adult in whom you trust. Do not take matters into your own hands, when you are mentally unstable your judgment is inhibited.

Feeling pressured: Okay this is a touchy subject. I know you are thinking that you love him or her so I am ready to do what ever he/she asks of me. Stop the nonsense! You are the owner of your body. You have the right to preserve your decision making. Do not allow any one to make up your mind for you, especially when it comes to sex. If you are not ready to have sex then do not rush. You are still young; you have time to experience what sex has in store for you. If you are in situation where you are confronted with the ultimatum to either have sex with me or I am leaving you then do the honors yourself. You should not have to settle on your partner’s terms. "There is on I in we so the decision that we are concerned on should not be determined by no one person" your defense statement should be around these words. Always play it smart when in a relationship please put to use the mind you were created with. If at any time you feel that you can not handle a relationship then get out of it. Your health is needed to maintain or achieve a healthy relationship.
